Creation

Inspired by a cousin who makes striking double exposures, I made my own double exposure.  It is first of all my garden, including the globe light I accidentally broke with the rake handle.  I've superimposed on it a concept of the Garden of Eden.

When I finished this painting, I stood back and saw this:  It's the spectrum of creation. On left is the Garden of Eden, tree of life, with an allusion to the four rivers. On the right is a broken globe representing a broken world. But the source of light is also Christ broken for us, because of which creation continues.  And so the broken Light and the new creation exist together. 

This painting won BEST IN SHOW at Kavanaugh Gallery, St Charles, IL, Contemporary Colors Exhibit 2024.
